Opening Hours
Belvedere Gardens and Park are open year-round, with seasonal variation in hours. The Visitor Services Centre and restaurant follow the gardens' hours.
- Summer (May – September): typically 9:30am – 6:00pm daily (last admission ~5:00pm)
- Shoulder (March, April, October): typically 10:00am – 5:00pm
- Winter (November – February): typically 10:00am – 4:30pm
- Closed: Christmas Day and St Stephen's Day
These hours change annually. Confirm on the official site before your visit.
Admission
Admission is paid at the Visitor Services Centre. Approximate 2026 prices (confirm on the day):

Heritage Card holders enter free — the annual card pays for itself at Belvedere alone if you visit more than twice. Available from any Heritage Ireland site or online.
Directions & Parking
Belvedere House is approximately 5 km south of Mullingar on the N52, on the eastern shore of Lough Ennell.
- From Dublin: M4/M6 west to Mullingar, then N52 south. ~1 hour 15 minutes.
- From Galway: M6 east to Kinnegad, then M4/N4/N52. ~1 hour 45 minutes.
- From Athlone: N55 north. ~35 minutes.
- From Mullingar town centre: 10 minutes drive or cycle.
Parking is free on the estate. Spaces are large and well-marked. Coach parking is available.
Accessibility
The Visitor Services Centre, main paths around the walled garden, and restaurant are wheelchair-accessible. Some of the longer woodland trails are rough and may not be fully accessible. Accessible toilets are located at the Visitor Services Centre.
Visiting with Children
Belvedere is especially good for families:
- Three separate children's play areas on the estate
- Zip line (age/height restrictions apply)
- Picnic areas with plenty of benches and open lawn
- Short woodland trails suitable for buggies on the main paths
- Licensed restaurant with kids' menu
Allow 3–4 hours for a relaxed family visit.
Pets
Dogs are welcome on leash. Service dogs allowed in the Visitor Centre; other pets not permitted inside.
Food & Drink
The licensed restaurant in the Visitor Services Centre serves lunch, light meals, coffee and cake. Picnicking is welcome on the estate — bring your own or buy at the restaurant. For a wider choice of dining, Mullingar town is 10 minutes away.
